Basis for Project: Wilson-Naneum-Cher Assessment
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This potential project proposes to reroute Whiskey Creek into Reecer Creek within the City of Ellensburg's
Reecer Creek floodplain and levee system by constructing a fish -passable bridge along the BNSF railroad with
adequate capacity to also convey flood flows at the 100-year flood event. This project will reduce flooding in
the West Ellensburg neighborhood and adjacent industrial areas, decreasing inundation along the fringes of the
floodplain near the BNSF railroad and provide fish passage into Whiskey Creek.
FLOOD IMPACTS
Reduced flooding in the West Ellensburg neighborhood and adjacent industrial areas.
SCHEDULE
• 2027-2028: Final Design & Permitting
• 2029: Construction
FUNDING
• Federal: Federal Highways (Grant Request)
• Local: FCZD Levy
9b
•ram
'+

{ ^ t
n1.
f
V it Il 4
Legend
OModel Boundary
-1 Levee Failure
Vanr
Aft 2 Features
r
Rerouted Channel,
Culverts Maintained
Proposed Levee Design
Mill Ditch Grading
Flood Swale
0 i300 1,600
® Feet
For more project information contact Arden Thomas @ 509-962-7523 or arden.thomas@co.kittitas.wa.us
