Basis for Project: Wilson-Naneum-Cher Assessment
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Where the EWC canal crosses Whiskey Creek, the creek currently flows through a culvert beneath the canal.
The culvert does not have enough capacity to handle high flows, causing water to back up behind the canal.
The proposed EWC siphon project will change this configuration by routing the canal through a siphon be-
neath Whiskey Creek. The siphon will work with flow conveyance improvements at the upstream Bender
Road crossing to reduce flooding in the area. Together, these improvements increase flood conveyance, sepa-
rate the canal and creek, and remove a barrier to fish passage.
FLOOD IMPACTS
Decreased flooding along Whiskey Creek
SCHEDULE FUNDING
• 2027: Construction Local: FCZD Levy
• 2028/2029: plant maintenance
71 Z
cdip
<.
N__all
I-- _ 1- 1 i
'.w
n
For more project information contact Arden Thomas @ 509-962-7523 or arden.thomas@co.kittitas.wa.us
