Corridor lmprovement
SR 906, North of Intersection
with HyakDrive E to
Lake Mardee Road
Reduce the gravel shoulder outside of the
pavement area to discourage parking and
provide additional snow storage.
Convert the excess paved shoulder
to shared use path. This aligns with
the walkway or bicycle lane proven
safety countermeasures and provides a
dedicated space for non-motorized usage.
Connect to Kendall Peak Lakes Trail,
allowing summer overflow to share
Summit East parking lots (requires
additional coordination with private
parking lot owners).
SR 906 is classified as a County Rural
Arterial per the Kittitas County Code
and should consist of 72-foot minimum
lanes and 4-foot minimum shoulders per
the Kittitas County Standard Plans. This
roadway section can be reduced to the
minimum widths in order to match local
rural access road standards approaching
the intersection of Hyak Drive E (see
Appendix L).
Corfidor lmprovement
SR 906 Spur, East of Intersection
with HyakDrive E
Add a shared use path to provide non-motorized
transportation alternatives. Connect the intersection of 5R 906 & Hyak Drive E to
the Palouse to Cascades Trail (approximately 0.2 miles).
This would provide an additional recreational element,
and connect pedestrians and cyclists to an extensive
trail system that crosses the state, local destinations
like Lake Keechelus and the Hyak Snow Park.
. Provide local non-motorized trail connectivity
between Alpental and Lake Keechelus.
Corridor lmprovement
SR 906, West of Intersection
with HyakDrive E
Add a shared use path to provide non-
motorized tra nsportation alternatives.
This aligns with the walkway and bicycle
lane proven safety countermeasures and
provides pedestrians and cyclists with
a dedicated space that reduces their
interactions with vehicles.
.
