For a
popular winter destination, ice on the roadway can limit stopping
sight distances and make approaching the intersection dangerous.
Lighting provides advanced warning of a congested area-
Reconfigure the roadway to reduce the intersection width and
decrease sign distance from the roadway.
Systematically apply multiple low-cost countermeasures at stop-
controlled intersections. Treatments include:
. Stop bars at existing stop sign locations
. Advanced warning signs, including "Stop Ahead" (W3-
1) and Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" signs (W4-4P)
.
