Property Tax Parcel numbers: Parcel 346333
2.Narrative project description:
The Yakama Nation is partnering with WDFW to conduct a fish habitat restonition project on Taneum Creek.A driveway accessing pnvate property to the
south of Taneum Creek will be realigned to reduce the level of floodplain confinement, and an additional prefabricated steel 100-fool
bridge will be added to expand the existing 40-foot crossing to enhance the river-floodplain corridor. This project will add an additional
bridge span on the road side of the current bridge and widen the existing driveway from the road to the bridge. The driveway from the
existing bridge to private property is to remain'as constructed'.The existing bridge will remain in place with the addition of the new bridge.
3. Provision of road standards for which this variance is requested and the way in which you wish
to vary from the standards:
Request for proposed driveway longer than 150 It to be 16'0"in width without 2ft of clear zone.(KCC 12.04.07.060 Design Requirements Table 12oC07-1),
Request for width of the connecting bridge structure to 16'0".(KCC 12.04.06.040(4)).
Reason for the variance request:
The current—14'driveway crosses from County road to an existing single span bridge(16'width)and then continues to private property.
The proposed driveway width is already several feet wider than the existing driveway width, and the proposed second bridge would
match the width of the first bridge, reducing the benefit of an increased width of the second bridge.A single private landowner lives
across the bridge, reducing the need for passing on the bridges.Increasing the new bridge and driveway widths would drive project
costs beyond fundable levels and detract from restoration potential at the site.
4. Proposed Mitigation for requested variance:
Two MUTCD compliant object marker signs will be installed at end of bridge on each side."One lane bridge'signage will be installed
on both sides of the bridge.Bridge design meets a minimum design load rapacity of HL-93.Project will maintain good lines
of sight and create 29 wide,50'long passing/pullout zone before bridge for vehicles to pass.Vegetation will be managed to keep
good line of sight.
T+pe text here
5.
