Sufficient budget must be allocated for renewing pavement
markings for the proposed solutions to be effective.
* CRFs are approximated based on the data provided by the FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.
† Costs are based on a preliminary engineer’s estimate of magnitude.
Collision History
Between 2014 and 2023, there were five reported collisions in this priority
area. Of these five collisions, three occurred when a vehicle was traveling
straight ahead, and two were parking related. One collision resulted in a
possible or minor injury, and all were vehicle-only collisions. Four collisions
occurred on an icy roadway surface. Two collisions were single-vehicle crashes
where drivers collided into a snowbank.
Non-Collision Concerns
Additional concerns were identified in this area through public comments,
stakeholder feedback, and observation by the County and consultants.
Concerns include:
High speeds:
Curvature of roadway limits
stopping sight distance
at higher speeds.
Pedestrian Circulation:
Lack of pedestrian access
throughout corridor.
Pedestrian crossing at Tanner Way:
Private parking lot is separated
from the Silver Fir Lodge by SR
906, resulting in frequent crossings
of the highway for lift access for
skiing and mountain biking.
Crosswalk striping is not visible.
Crossing signs are not up
to current standards.
20%
Possible or minor injury collision1
5 Reported Collisions
Of the 5 collisions:
3
Involved a vehicle
going straight ahead.
Collisions 2
Were parking-
related.
Collisions All
Were vehicle-
only collisions.
4
Occurred on an icy
roadway surface.
Collisions 2
Were single-vehicle collisions where
drivers collided into a snowbank.
Collisions
56Kittitas County | Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Plan
