Items in bold are FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.
Cost Estimates
Approximate planning-level costs for each countermeasure are outlined below:
Table 4. Sufficient budget must be allocated for renewing pavement
markings for the proposed solutions to be effective.
* Washington Spatial Data portal, WSDOT – Traffic Counts (AADT) Current map,
https://gisdata-wsdot.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/wsdot-traffic-counts-aadt-current/
explore?location=47.417989%2C-121.409286%2C16.35
† CRFs are approximated based on the data provided by the FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.
‡ Costs are based on a preliminary engineer’s estimate of magnitude.
Collision History
Between 2014 and 2023, there were three reported collisions in this priority
area. Of these three collisions, all were related to parking, and two collisions
involved vehicle backing. One collision resulted in a possible or minor injury,
and all were vehicle-only collisions.
Non-Collision Concerns
Additional concerns were identified in this area through public comments,
stakeholder feedback, and observation by the County and consultants.
Concerns include:
Lack of pedestrian connectivity
between businesses on
either side of SR 906.
Width of roadway makes it
challenging for pedestrians to
cross, and parking is inefficient.
Driver confusion caused by unclear
pavement markings and unclear
access points to businesses.
Trucks parked in roadway limit
sight distance for people pulling
out of driveways and reduce
available parking for people
patronizing area businesses.
Friction and conflicts between
vehicles parked along roadway
and vehicles in travel lane and
pedestrians in roadway create
congestion along SR 906.
High vehicle speeds during
summer when congestion is
reduced and roadways are clear.
Lack of access to I-90 EB from
Exit 52 leads to driver confusion.
33%
All
Were related to
parking.
2
Involved vehicle
backing.
Collisions All
Were
vehicle-only
collisions.
Possible or minor injury collision1
3 Reported Collisions
Of the 3 collisions:
50Kittitas County | Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Plan
