Items in bold are FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.
Cost Estimates
Approximate planning-level costs for each countermeasure are outlined below:
Table 8. Sufficient budget must be allocated for renewing pavement
markings for the proposed solutions to be effective.
* CRFs are approximated based on the data provided by the FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.
† Costs are based on a preliminary engineer’s estimate of magnitude.
Collision History
Between 2014 and 2023, there were seven reported collisions in
this priority area. Of these seven collisions, four collisions were
intersection-related. Two collisions resulted in a possible or minor
injury, and all were vehicle-only collisions.
Non-Collision Concerns
Additional concerns were identified in this area through public
comments, stakeholder feedback, and observation by the County
and consultants. Concerns include:
Congestion on Exit
54 E off-ramp.
Intersection confusion due
to signs that are out of sight,
unclear pavement markings,
and size of intersection.
Limited space between
on/off ramps and SR 906/
Hyak Drive E intersection.
Ice on the roadway limits
stopping sight distance.
Vehicle and pedestrian
conflicts. Lack of pedestrian
access to Lake Keechelus and
overflow parking from Summit
East along SR 906 Spur put
pedestrians in the roadway.
4
Were intersection-
related.
Collisions All
Were vehicle-only
collisions.
7 Reported Collisions
Of the 7 collisions:
29%
Possible or minor injury collisions2
60Kittitas County | Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Plan
