By defining the entrances and
exits, roadway users can know where to
expect cars.
Add walkways to provide dedicated
pedestrian routes to key destinations.
Corridor Improvement
Intersection of Hyak Drive
East & Snoqualmie Drive
Systematically apply multiple low-cost
countermeasures at stop-controlled
intersections. Treatments include:
ƒStop bars at existing stop sign locations
ƒAdvanced warning signs, including
“Stop Ahead” (W3-1)
ƒImprove corner radii in accordance with
Kittitas County Code 12.04.04.070
Install a mini-roundabout or traffic circle
to provide traffic calming and a continuous
flow of traffic, particularly during peak
periods.
Intersection Improvement
Mid-block Crossing
Between Snoqualmie Drive
& Keechelus Drive
Add a designated pedestrian crossing
between private parking lots to serve
Summit East ski area.
Add crosswalk visibility enhancements
to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians
between private parking lots and
pedestrian destinations. Use highly
reflective crosswalk markings using
patterns (bar pairs, continental, or ladder).
Install a Rectangular Rapid Flashing
Beacon (RRFB) in combination with the
new crosswalk to provide advanced
warning of the crossing location and make
drivers aware of pedestrians within the
crossing.
Crossing Treatment
Snoqualmie Drive is classified as a Rural
Local Access road per the Kittitas County
Code and should consist of 12-foot
minimum lanes and 2-foot minimum
shoulders per the Kittitas County Standard
Plans. This roadway section can be
reduced to minimum widths per Kittitas
County Code (see Appendix L).
61 Snoqualmie Pass Comprehensive Safety Plan | Kittitas County
