Response 6.1: Provide any additional information which will assist the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in evaluating your
project and its benefit to tourism.
The Ellensburg Rodeo is more than an entertainment event — it is a cornerstone of Kittitas County’s cultural identity and a
proven economic driver, generating millions of dollars in direct spending on lodging, dining, shopping, and recreation. There is
an increasing level of effort each year to continue to be one of America’s Top professional rodeos and attract visitors from across
the nation and abroad.
The Rodeo’s 102-year legacy gives it a unique credibility and draw, while its programming continues to evolve with concerts,
behind-the-chutes tours, family activities, and digital engagement that broaden its audience and encourage longer stays. Early
2025 data show strong momentum, surpassing 2024 sales and trending toward the record-setting success of 2023.
The event’s reach extends well beyond the Rodeo Grounds. By partnering with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce,
Ellensburg Downtown Association, and regional businesses, we ensure that guests discover everything from the historic charm
of downtown Ellensburg to the outdoor adventures of the Yakima River Canyon and Upper County.
Support from the CLTAC directly amplifies this impact. Grant funds allow us to scale marketing efforts, bring new visitors to the
valley, and promote overnight stays across the county. These efforts benefit not only the Rodeo but also local hotels,
restaurants, retailers, and attractions—strengthening Kittitas County’s reputation as a premier destination for authentic Western
experiences.
With its proven record of success, strong community partnerships, and commitment to strategic growth, the Ellensburg Rodeo
remains an exceptional investment for tourism development in Kittitas County.
2500 character limit
Response 6.2: You may upload any supporting documents such as graphs, images, diagrams, marketing materials, etc.
You are allowed to submit up to 3 single page (US Letter) documents in JPG, PDF or TIFF format
7| Previous Lodging Tax Grant Information
Response 7.1: Has your event received Lodging Tax funds in previous years?*
No, this event/project has not previously received Lodging Tax Funding
Yes, 1 year previous
Yes, 2 years previous
Yes, 3 years previous
Yes, 4 or more years previous
Response 7.2: Overall Attendance *
Past Actual *Projected *
42,340 44,600
Response 7.3: Number of people travelling more than 50 miles for your event?*
Past Actual *Projected *
13,862 14,800
Response 7.4: Number of people traveling from outside WA State for your event?*
Past Actual *Projected *
2,743 4,000
Response 7.5: The number of overnight guests who stay in paid accommodations in Kittitas County for your event?*
Past Actual *Projected *
8,000 9,000
Response 7.6: Number of paid lodging room nights resulting from you event/activity/facility?*
Past Actual *Projected *
