3| Impact
3. Or from another country or state outside of their place of residence or business.
You must provide the evidence utilized in determining your projections.
Response 2.1: Why would tourists travel to Kittitas County to attend your event/activity/facility?*
Gallery One has a long and successful history of attracting visitors to Ellensburg through high-quality arts programming, cultural
events, and year-round exhibitions. Each year, more than 25,000 people visit our gallery, shop, and classrooms, with a
significant portion traveling from outside Kittitas County.
Our impact is visible across several flagship programs:
- Exhibitions: We showcase artists from across Washington and beyond, drawing collectors, enthusiasts, and cultural tourists
who plan visits around our opening receptions and special shows.
- Events: Our participation in the monthly First Friday Art Walk, seasonal festivals, open studios, artist talks, and diverse exhibits
consistently draw large audiences, many of whom come specifically to enjoy Ellensburg’s thriving arts scene.
- Classes and Workshops: Our studio programming attracts participants from Yakima, Tri-Cities, Wenatchee, and Seattle, who
often extend their stay to enjoy other aspects of the community.
- Tourism data confirms this reach. We regularly welcome visitors who discover Gallery One through targeted advertising,
regional tourism guides, and word-of-mouth referrals. Our gift shop and consignment gallery — featuring work by regional artists
— are especially popular with travelers seeking unique, locally made items that embody Ellensburg’s creative spirit.
Local businesses frequently share that our programming contributes to increased foot traffic downtown, particularly during off-
peak seasons when cultural events are a primary reason to visit.
This track record demonstrates not only our ability to bring visitors into the gallery, but also our role in positioning Ellensburg as
a vibrant destination. With expanded marketing and continued investment, Gallery One is poised to deepen this success by
attracting even more tourists, strengthening the local economy, and ensuring Ellensburg remains a must-visit hub for arts and
culture in Central Washington.
2500 character limit
Response 2.2: Describe the prior success of your event/activity/facility to attract tourists.*
Outside of the Covid-19 Pandemic (March 2020-2022), our annual attendance continues to grow every year. Even during a
leadership change, we’ve seen an uptick in Gallery visits. Some of our events invite, like Pecha Kucha, more intimate gatherings
or 8 to 12 individuals. However, we’ve particularly noticed an increased interest in our events and programs that work in
partnership with larger Ellensburg events, like the Music Festival. Our First Friday Art Walks continue to average 300-600
attendees on given nights.
Below are the annual attendance numbers that we’ve collected over the years:
2025 Projected – 29773
2024 Projected – 26170
2022 – 13876
2021 – 9838
2020 – 9466
2019 – 25372
2028 – 24955
2500 character limit
Application Questions: Part 2
