Wood Cellulose Fiber Mulch: <br />1. Specially processed wood fiber containing no growth or germination <br />inhibiting factors. <br />2. Dyed suitable color to facilitate inspection of material placement. <br />3. Manufactured such that after addition and agitation in slurry tanks with <br />water, material fibers become uniformly suspended to form <br />homogenous slurry. <br />4. When hydraulically sprayed on ground, material will allow absorption <br />and percolation of moisture. <br />2.04 EROSION CONTROL MATTING <br />A. Excelsior mat or straw blanket; staples as recommended by matting <br />manufacturer. <br />B. Manufacturers and Products: <br />1. Akzo Industries, Asheville, NC; Curlex Mat. <br />2. North American Green, Evansville, IN; S150 blanket. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.01 SOIL PREPARATION <br />A. Before start of hydroseeding and after surface has been shaped and graded, <br />and lightly compacted to uniform grade, scarify soil surface to minimum <br />depth of 1 inch. <br />3.02 HYDROSEEDING <br />A. Prepare 1-inch-deep seed bed; obtain Engineer’s acceptance prior to <br />proceeding. <br />B. Seeding shall not be done during windy weather or when the ground is frozen, <br />excessively wet, or otherwise unsuitable. Seed shall be placed at the rate and <br />mix specified herein. Seed shall be sown by an approved hydroseeder that <br />uses water as the carrying agent and maintains continuous agitation through <br />paddle blades. It shall have an operating capacity sufficient to agitate, <br />suspend, and mix into a homogeneous slurry the specified amount of seed and <br />water or other material. Distribution and discharge lines shall be large enough <br />to prevent stoppage and shall be equipped with a set of hydraulic discharge <br />spray nozzles that will provide a uniform distribution of the slurry.
