KITTITAS COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br /> AGENDA DATE: August 25, 2025 <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution designating interim acting County <br /> Engineer,Not to exceed six months <br /> BACKGROUND: The County Engineer position will be vacated the last week of <br /> August. The Board of County Commissioners has the authority and <br /> requirement to employ a county engineer(RCW 36.80.010). Public <br /> Works with the assistance of Human Resources actively began <br /> recruitment to fill the County Engineer position. Although the <br /> recruitment process has begun, hiring a new county engineer will not <br /> be in place prior to the end of the month. To avoid any lapse in having <br /> an identified County Engineer, an interim county engineer may be <br /> appointed. Public Works Director previously filled the role of County <br /> Engineer and has maintained the required engineering license with the <br /> State of Washington. Notice is to be provided to the County Road <br /> Administration Board of any changes to the County Engineer <br /> position. <br /> INTERACTION: Public Works <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Recommend approval of a resolution designating Public Works <br /> Director as interim acting County Engineer. <br /> HANDLING: Return One original to Public Works <br /> ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br /> LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, Public Works Director <br />
