• Some of our VAB members volunteered to serve on a subcommittee to help our VSOs plan for a Veterans Resource Fair in 2026. Developmental Disabilities • The Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (DDAC) has full membership. ■ DDAC continues to work on items identified as goals in their biennial plan including work around transportation needs, barriers to recreation, and a CWU video project to promote hiring people with disabilities. • Laurie Holt is making fantastic connections with early interventions and transitions for individuals with disabilities! She's connecting people and agencies, so that resources are being utilized. For example, she is connecting folks from childcare to transitional kindergarten along with early support staff from children's village in Yakima. Other Items from Human Services • We are taking on the oversight of another Commerce grant, the Community Development Block Grant, that passes through to HopeSource and working with the Auditor's Office to take that over. • We are working on a policy around how to handle subcontractors who do not complete contract deliverables, which may require withholding of payment temporarily until deliverables are submitted. • Kittitas County has solidified the process for utilizing opioid settlement funds and will partner with the City of Ellensburg in that process. We are currently drafting an interlocal agreement with the City of Ellensburg. ■ We are continuing to standardize and improve the division processes for efficiency. Communicable Disease Investigations Our Communicable Disease (CD) team continues to be actively engaged over the past three months in managing notifiable conditions reported within Kittitas County. We are also maintaining preparedness for the potential occurrence of a measles case or outbreak in the area, as well as a resurgence of COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in our community. Below is a monthly summary of cases for which investigations were conducted, or actions were taken by KCPHD. The data includes cases of communicable diseases, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), animal bites, and cases reported from outside the country. CD Cases: June July August Total 27 cases 26 cases 46 cases COVID-19 Data We continue to receive positive COVID-19 cases and are maintaining our reporting to the state. Our supply of COVID-19 tests remains limited due to federal budget cuts; we distribute tests as availability allows. Kate Johnson continues to oversee all COVID-19 outbreak management within our long-term care facilities, daycares, and other agencies as needed.
