The road segment will <br />be widened to accommodate <br />the larger truck loads entering <br />and exiting hay press facility. <br />HSIP 2025 awarded <br />project <br />The Highway Safety <br />Improvement Program (HSIP) <br />is a federal program that allows <br />states, and the local <br />governments within them, to <br />target safety funds to their most <br />critical safety needs. The goal <br />of the program is to reduce fatal <br />and serious injury crashes, <br />following Washington State's <br />Strategic Highway Safety Plan <br />(Target Zero) and each <br />agency's local road safety plan. <br />WSDOT's programs for local <br />governments include the <br />County Safety program, the <br />City Safety program, and the <br />Railway-Highway Crossing <br />program. Focus is on the <br />Kittitas Highway and No. 6 <br />Road intersection. <br />HSIP funds 2026-2027 $530,000 <br />Bridge Rehabilitation <br />Program <br />Each year the County inspects <br />approximately 50% of its <br />bridges on an alternating basis <br />to comply with National Bridge <br />Inspection Standards <br />requirement of a 24 month <br />maximum inspection cycle. <br />During these inspections <br />potential problems and <br />maintenance issues are <br />identified and documented. <br />Routine inspections identify <br />deficiencies early and <br />corrective measures can be <br />taken in order to eliminate a <br />potential for major repairs or a <br />hazard to the driving public. <br />This program has been <br />successful in identifying <br />problems and correcting <br />deficiencies in County bridges <br />and extending the life of <br />existing bridges <br />Local funds 2025-2028 $1,029,000 <br />Bender Road <br />Widening and <br />To accommodate the increase in <br />traffic along Bender Road and <br />Surface <br />Transportation <br />2029-2030 $2,300,000
