Mitigation Strategy: A contingency fund is built into the budget to cover unexpected
expenses. Regular financial tracking and cost assessments will help ensure
expenditures stay within budget.
By proactively addressing these risks and maintain ingflexibility in the project schedule, we
can ensure the grandstands are completed in time for the 2026 rodeo season while also
allowing summer events to proceed as planned.
VI. Tourism Metrics and Success Measurement
The revitalization of the Ellensburg Rodeo Grandstands presents a unique opportunity to
position Kittitas County as a premier destination for both cultural tourism and year-round
entertainment. A comprehensive promotional strategy and strong support for tourism -
related activities will help maximize the visibility, impact, and long-term benefits of this
investment, while also enhancing the local quality of life.
To drive awareness and visitation, the project team will explore collaboration with the
Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce and regional tourism offices to promote the venue
across both statewide and regional platforms. These partnerships will be instrumental in
ensuring consistent messaging and broad outreach, including coordinated marketing
through tourism bureaus and travel associations.
A robust digital marketing campaign will be developed to showcase the new amenities,
honor the rich history of our annual traditions, and publicize upcoming events. Through
engaging content —such as promotional videos, social media campaigns, and interactive
event calendars —the campaign will attract both repeat visitors and new audiences.
Special emphasis will be placed on highlighting accessibility improvements and diverse
programming options, appealing to families, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts alike.
In addition, the venue will be included in statewide tourism listings and publications, such
as Experience Washington and other popular travel guides and websites, further
embedding the facility into the broader tourism narrative of the Pacific Northwest.
Beyond marketing efforts, the upgraded Rodeo Arena will serve as a dynamic hub for
tourism -related activities. The venue's enhanced infrastructure will accommodate a wide
variety of events, including concerts, regional and national equestrian competitions, and
cultural festivals —each of which will attract both local attendees and out-of-town visitors.
These events will not only enrich the community's cultural offerings but also generate
sustained economic activity.
