2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan <br />Kittitas County, Washington <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter 6: Plan Maintenance 230 <br />Mitigation actions have been formatted to facilitate the annual review process. Additional Hazard <br />Mitigation Steering Committee responsibilities include, but are not limited to: <br /> <br />• Annually reviewing each goal and objective to determine its relevance and appropriateness. <br />• Monitor and evaluate the mitigation strategies in this Plan to ensure the document reflects current <br />hazard analyses, development trends, code changes, and risk analyses and perceptions. <br />• Ensure the appropriate implementation of annual status reports and regular maintenance of the <br />Plan. The Steering Committee will hear progress reports from the parties responsible for the <br />various implementation actions to monitor progress. <br />• Create future action plans and mitigation actions. These should be carefully assessed and <br />prioritized utilizing the STAPLEE+E Method outlined in the Mitigation Strategy section of this Plan. <br />• Ensure the public is invited to comment and involved in mitigation plan updates. <br />• Ensure that Kittitas County complies with all applicable Federal statutes and regulations during <br />the periods for which it receives hazard mitigation grant funding, in compliance with 44 CFR. <br />• Reassess the Plan in light of any major hazard event. The Steering Committee will convene within <br />45 days of any major event to review all applicable data and to consider the risk assessment, plan <br />goals, objectives, and action items given the impact of the hazard event. <br />• Review the Plan in connection with other plans, projects, developments, and other significant <br />initiatives. <br />• Coordinate with appropriate counties within Kittitas County and authorities to incorporate regional <br />initiatives that transcend the County boundaries. <br />• Update the Plan every five (5) years and submit it to the Washington State Emergency <br />Management Division and FEMA Region 10 for approval. <br />• Amend the Plan whenever necessary to reflect changes in state or federal laws and statutes <br />required in 44 CFR. <br />6.1.1.1. Continued Public Engagement <br />Kittitas County Public Works and the Steering Committee are dedicated to involving the public directly in <br />the review and updates of the Plan. The public will have the opportunity to provide input into Plan <br />revisions and updates. Copies of the Plan will be kept by the appropriate County departments, cities, <br />towns, and special districts. <br /> <br />Public meetings will be held when deemed necessary by the Steering Committee. The meetings will <br />provide a forum where the public can express concerns, opinions, or new alternatives that can then be <br />included in the Plan. Kittitas County Public Works, with support of the Steering Committee, will be <br />responsible for using the appropriate resources to publicize the public meetings and maintain public <br />involvement. <br /> <br />To further facilitate continued public involvement in the planning process, Kittitas County will ensure the <br />following: <br /> <br />• Kittitas County Public Works will keep a copy of the Plan readily available in their office for review <br />and comment by the public. The Plan will also be maintained on the website.
