Monitoring Well B8 Plans and Specifications <br />Kittitas Co may Solid Waste <br />2.2.7 Testing During DriYling <br />If a suspected water bearing zone is encountered during drilling, the CONTRACTOR shall notify the <br />GEOLOGIST. The GEOLOGIST may request Standby time to allow for measurement of drilling water <br />levels. Standby time less than 30 minutes shall be considered Incidental to the drilling project. For <br />standby time exceeding 30 minutes, the CONTRACTOR shall bill the OWNER at the hourly rate as <br />detailed in Section 4. <br />2. 2. S Standby Time <br />The GEOLOGIST may request Standby Time to discuss the findings of suspected water gearing zones <br />or encountering different conciltlons than anticipated. The GEOLOGIST will notify the CONTRACTOR <br />when Standby Time is necessary to make drilling and well construction decisions. All Standby Time in <br />excess of 30 minutes will be compensated to the CONTRACTOR on an hourly basis as detailed in <br />Section 4. <br />Standby Time that is due to the CONTRACTOR's request will not be compensated (i.e. down timed <br />during shipment of equipment). Delays due to inclement weather, freezing rain, excess snow, excess <br />wind, or other natural causes that cannot be prevented will not be compensated to the <br />CONTRACTOR. <br />2.3 Well Construction Materials. <br />The well shall be constructed using new, commercially manufactured materials. <br />2,.3.1 Seal, Ma.terial, <br />For new well construction, the bentonite seals shall be Volclay Chip medium, Enviroplug medium, <br />CETCO medium bentonite chips, Holeplug 3/8-inch bentonite chips, or approved equivalent and <br />meet the requirements of WAC 173-160. <br />2.3.2 PVC Pipe <br />The riser pipe and fittings shall be 2-inch diameter schedule 80 PVC pipe (2.375-inch outside <br />diameter) that is flushed threaded. A flush thread end cap shall be fitted to the bottom of the well. A <br />removable 2-inch-diameter torquer J-Plug with a sealing gasket shall be fitted to the top of the well, <br />2.3.3 PVC Screen <br />The well screen shall be 2-inch-diameter schedule 80 (2.375-inches outside diameter) PVC screens <br />and have 0.020-inch-slot) machine -cut horizontal slots. All joints shall be flush threaded. The well <br />screen is anticipated to be 20 feet in length. <br />2.3.4 Pack Maternal <br />The pack material forthe well shall consist of 10/20, 12/20, or 8/12 (or approved equivalent) <br />rounded to sub -rounded silica sand filter pack, The pack shall be clean and free of contaminants <br />meeting the American Water Works Standard B100-16 for filter pack material. <br />February 2025 1 553-1763,010 11 <br />
