Monitoring Well H8 Plans and Specifications <br />Kittlta3 COurlty Solid Waato <br />2.3.5 Backfill Materials <br />Backfill materials prior to installation of the well shall consist of either hydrated bentonite chips or <br />silica sand filter pack, or other materials approved by the GEOLOGIST (I.e. pea gravel if voids are <br />encountered). Installation of backfill prior to insertion of the well shall be billed at the backfilling unit <br />price as detailed in Section 4. <br />The protective casing serving as the aboveground monument shall be new, minimum 4.5 foot long, <br />6-inch diameter -schedule 40 Grade 8, seamless, rust -free, carbon steel pipe per ASTM A53 <br />standard, and shall be completed with a lockable steel cap and casing, which shall be approved by <br />the GEOLOGIST. The protective casing shall be painted with a high visible paint, In accordance with <br />the manufacturer's recommendations, which matches the existing casing as the site or <br />recommended by the OWNER. CONTRACTOR shall paint well monuments prior to installation. No <br />painting at the drill site shall be allowed. The monument shall be cemented in place with a small <br />cement pad surrounding the monument In accordance with Chapter 173-160 WAC. <br />2-3.7 Protective Bollards <br />Protective bollards shall be a minimum 3-inch-diameter steel pipe and at least 4.5 feet long. and <br />shall be painted with a high visible paint, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, <br />which matches the existing bollards at the site or recommended bythe OWNER. CONTRACTOR shall <br />paint bollards prior to installation. No painting at the drill site shall be allowed. <br />2.3.8 Cement <br />The monument and protective bollards shall be cemented in place using high strength cement (ability to <br />withstand approximately 4,000 pounds per square inch). <br />2.4 Well Construction <br />The design dimensions for approximate well completion are shown on the Plans and Table 1. The well <br />shall be constructed in accordance with Chapter 173-160 WAG, Minimum Standards for Construction <br />and Maintenance of Wells. Specific construction procedures are described in the following sections. <br />Installation of backfill prior to insertion of the well shall be billed at the backfilling unit price as detailed <br />In Section 4. Construction of the well screen, pack surrounding the screen, hentonite seal, and riser <br />shall be billed at the well construction unit price as detailed in Section 4. The above -ground monument <br />and bollards will be billed as a lump sum unit price. All depths of backfill and borehole bottoms shall <br />be confirmed by the CONTRACTOR by physical tagging prior to and during placement of backfill, pack, <br />and seal materials. <br />Once final drilling depth is achieved, the CONTRACTOR will discuss the well assembly dimensions with <br />the GEOLOGIST. The well assembly consists of PVC screen and riser pipe. The well screen and riser <br />pipe shall be schedule 80 PVC, as shown on Sheet A-3 and noted in Section 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 The well <br />assembly is anticipated to have a minimum of 20 feet of well screen. <br />12 February 2025 1 553.1763•010 <br />
