The area designated for steam cleaning
activities will be located at least 50 feet away from the well site, or as designated by the GEOLOGIST
and OWNER. Rinse water from steam cleaning can be disposed of on -site in the easternmost lined
leachate evaporation pond (See Sheet A-2), Coordinate with the site contact prior to disposal for
access to the pond.
2.2.3 Borehole Logging
Borehole logging shall be conducted by the GEOLOGIST for the purpose of this project and must also
be done by the CONTRACTOR for fulfillment of state requirements. The CONTRACTOR shall endeavor
to provide information on drilling conditions that will assist the GEOLOGIST in making determinations
of subsurface material character including but not limited to soil and groundwater conditions, voids,
sloughing and soil collapse, and penetration rates.
2.2.4 Alignment
Alignment requirements during drilling are that any casing, liner, or drill tools can be run freely through
the boring. At a minimum, the alignment shall conform to Chapter 173-160-191 WAC.
2.2.5 Abandonment
Any well that does not meet the alignment or other requirements, or which is contaminated by the
CONTRACTOR, or any well on which the CONTRACTOR stops work will be considered abandoned.
Once a well installed by the CONTRACTOR has been designated as abandoned, the CONTRACTOR, at
their own expense down to the last drilling depth, shall initiate installation of a new well in the
immediate vicinity at a location designated by the GEOLOGIST. The CONTRACTOR may, at their own
expense, remove any ungrouted casing. At a minimum, all abandoned wens shall be completed in
accordance with decommissioning standards of Chapter 173-160-460 WAC.
2.2.6 Determining Appropriate Drilling Depth
Drilling completion depth at the well location will be confirmed by the CONTRACTOR with the
GEOLOGIST_ If the CONTRACTOR anticipates the final drilling depth will not be reached due to site
conditions, the CONTRACTOR shall contact the OWNER and GEOLOGIST immediately to determine
appropriate actions. The anticipated drilling depth for the well is 200 feet below ground surface with
the top of the Vantage Interbed estimated to be approximately 190 feet below ground surface. The
CONTRACTOR shall bring enough drilling materials to advance the borehole and complete a
monitoring well to a minimum of 250 feet below ground to avoid any downtime for mobilization of
equipment/materials.
10 February 2025 1553-1763-010
