Monitoring Well B8 Plaits and Specifications <br />Kxltas County Solid waste <br />2.2.1 Drilling <br />The CONTRACTOR .shall be required to have a resource protection driller's license to drill and install <br />resource protection walls in Washington State and a competent driller's assistant on -site during all <br />drilling and well construction activities. The drilling CONTRACTOR shall have successfully completed a <br />minimum of 10,000 vertical feet usingthe same procedures described above. The CONTRACTOR shall <br />provide a rig large enough and capable of reaching the desired depth. <br />Prior to the commencement of field operations, the CONTRACTOR shall designate the representative <br />who shall be the only individual authorized to discuss performance of the Work and related matters <br />with the GEOLOGIST and OWNER. The CONTRACTOR shall procure all permits, licenses, and <br />certificates that may be required by law for the execution of the Work described in this document. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall comply with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, roles, and regulations <br />relating to the performance of the Work described in this document. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall submit Notice of Intent (start cards) to Ecology at least 72 hours prior to <br />mobilization as specified in Chapter 173-160-420 WAC, Well Construction Notification (Stark Card). At <br />the completion of the project, the CONTRACTOR shall complete and submit to Ecology all necessary <br />reports and forms relating to the completion of well (Chapter 173-160-420 WAC, Records) within 30 <br />days following completion. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall: <br />1. Provide electric power at the drill site (if needed to complete the drilling and well installation). <br />2. Restore site to pre -drilling condition. The OWNER may supply equipment to assist. <br />3. Review and sign the daily log of construction activities. <br />All Work, materials, and construction shall conform to the requirements of Chapter 173-160 WAC, <br />Minimum Standards for the Construction of Wells. In the event of a conflict between these <br />Specifications and Chapter 1.73-16O WAC, and In the absence of a variance from Chapter 173-160 <br />WAG, Chapter 173-160 WAC shall govern unless a variance has been approved by Ecology. <br />The Work will be performed using sonic drilling methods. A minimum 6.375-inch diameter boring will <br />be advanced down to the total depth of the well to allow proper construction of the 2-inch diameter <br />PVC well. <br />No bit lubrication other than potable water shall be allowed unless approved by the GEOLOGIST. There <br />is no water source available at the Facility. The CONTRACTOR will be responsible providing potable <br />water for drilling, decontamination, and well construction activities. The CONTRACTOR is required to <br />use the minimum amount of water necessary to advance the borehole safely to the desired drilling <br />depth using sonic drilling techniques. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall prevent contamination of soil and groundwater at the drilling site from <br />hydrocarbons and other chemicals used by the CONTRACTOR on or around the drilling equipment. <br />Drilling muds, foams, and petroleum- or soap based products shall not be allowed without written <br />approval from the GEOLOGIST. The use of petroleum•based joint compounds, which are normally used <br />to prevent binding, shall not be allowed. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall place 10 mil plastic sheeting down in the sample layout area prior to the start <br />of drilling. <br />The CONTRACTOR shall conduct all operations in such a way as to prevent any destruction, scarring, <br />or defacing of the work site, Every effort shall be made to present an orderly appearance at the work <br />February 2025 1553-1763-010 <br />
