10.8.4 Any PTO scheduled during the remainder of the year and requested at least five (5) calendar days <br />in advance and shall be scheduled in the order of their request without regard to seniority. The <br />Employer may not reschedule PTO without five (5) days' notice, unless with the consent of the <br />employee, or due to an emergency. <br />10.8.5 Pass Bid: Employees may pass bid any and all of their block leave requests; however, such <br />employees will be subject to Article 10.8.6. <br />10.8.6 All requests for leave will be responded to within a reasonable time and are subject to approval in <br />writing by the employee's supervisor or their designee. lf such a request is denied, the reasons for <br />such denial shall be set forth in writing. Where the employee does not receive a response within <br />a reasonable time of the request, the employee should contact the immediate supervisor or Jail <br />Superintendent. <br />L0.9 Unscheduled PTO: Unscheduled PTO is limited to eme rgencies or other urgent situations which are <br />unforeseeable. Preventative health and dental appointments are not considered unscheduled and must <br />be requested in advance in accordance with Article 14.8. Any employee who, for any reason, must take <br />unscheduled PTO, shall, as soon as practicable, notify their immediate supervisor or department head. ln <br />the event it is impracticable for an employee to provide notice, a person on the employee's behalf may <br />provide notice to the employee's supervisor or Department Head/Elected official. <br />ln addition to the examples listed above, WAC 296-L28-7OO and RCW 49.46.2L0 allow employees to utilize <br />PTO for themselves or their eligible family members for purposes including: <br />Leave under the domestic violence leave act, chapter 49.76 RCW for an employee or family <br />member who is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br />An absence resulting from an employee's mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; to <br />accommodate the employee's need for medical diagnosis, care, or treatment of a mental or <br />physical illness, injury, or health condition; or an employee's need for preventive medical care. <br />Exposure to an infectious disease during such period as their attendance would jeopardize the <br />health of County employees or the public. <br />To allow the employee to provide care for a family member with a mental or physical illness, injury, <br />or health condition; care of a family member who needs medical diagnosis, care, or treatment of <br />a mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition; or care for a family member who needs <br />preventive medical care. <br />When the employee's place of business has been closed by order of a public official for any health- <br />related reason, or when an employee's child's school or place of care has been closed for such a <br />reason. <br />10.10 Verification of Absences Exceeding Three (3) Davs: lf an employee uses unscheduled PTO for more than <br />three (3) consecutive days, the employee will be required to provide verification that establishes or <br />LOCAL 760 - CLEIIlCAL.
