■ KCPHD staff researched definitions in the Revised Code of Washington to assist with future
direction around terms such as substance use disorder treatment, prevention, and the like.
KCPHD will work with the prosecutor to make recommendations to the BOCC for future
guidelines with project proposals.
Developmental Disabilities
Laurie Holt has accepted the position as DD Specialist and will begin April 1. We are
excited to have Ms. Holt join our team; she has years of experience working within a local
school district in the special education field.
Work is already underway with the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee (DDAC)
for the state required Developmental Disabilities Biennial Plan for Kittitas County (recently
approved resolution by BOCC). Work is also underway to solidify the use of designated
property tax revenue, referred to as millage, for developmental disabilities related activities.
KCPHD is working with the BOCC to distribute funds to community partners and to support
the work of the Biennial Plan.
Consistency Across Committees
The initial goal for Human Services was to establish consistent process and protocol across all
committees and boards, so that boards could focus time and energy on their specific committee
topic. As such, all boards and committees have updated bylaws, RPF processes, meeting minutes
reviewed, website reviewed, and new recruitment and onboarding processes. Staff have received
positive feedback from committee members regarding the work to clearly define processes and
create consistency for all human services board and committees.
Increased Community Engagement Goals
Social media and website information has been developed to increase outgoing information about
when our committee meetings occur, what it looks like to attend an open public meeting,
committee and board vacancies, along with highlights of the work being done by the committees.
Communicable Disease
Communicable Disease
Medical Assistant Whitney Wheelock is keeping busy with STI reports and communicable disease
investigations, and Communicable Disease Manager Kate Johnson has led three outbreaks from
January to current:
o Norovirus in a Longterm Care Facility
o Influenza Ain a Longterm Care Facility
o Pertussis in the CWU Rugby team
Childhood Vaccinations
15
