Survey on Short-Term Rentals
live up here full time. The cons definitely out ways any pro's in my opinion
114 1 think it's great to bring people into our area. 2/6/2025 4:53 PM
115 Completely un-American to restrict people to use their properties how they want to use them. 2/6/2025 4:41 PM
This helps the economy and to regulate is wrong.
116 1 understand the burden short term rentals imposes in resort type areas like Snoqualmie Pass 2/6/2025 4:20 PM
and Roslyn and Ronald. Guests not understanding the grit or snow country standard operating
procedures. However in the greater Kittitas County area any home owner should be free to do
as they wish. AirBNB does a pretty good job vetting/rating/and allowing for public facing
reviews of tenants that allow hosts to confirm or deny guests. Coming from Snoqualmie Pass
living in the Conifer Neighborhood a private road that was privately maintained, the biggest
problem was guests getting stuck on unmaintained roads, not a county problem, the residents
figured out that they needed to pay for a higher level of service for snow removal so people
don't get stuck. Sure some guests are there to party and have a good time, but its a ski resort
that's what people go there to do. The HOA of a couple other neighborhoods only allow 30 day
minimum rentals which allows for rental income and shy's away the weekend party crowd. It
should not be a county issue that imposes rules that negatively impact the entire county for
small geographic zones of high density short term rentals.
117 In the upper county short term vacation rentals employ a lot of residents. It's a major driver of 2/6/2025 4:04 PM
our local economy. In addition, the location of the rentals is not in or near resident housing
areas.
118 Snoqualmie Pass is no place for short-term rentals when the renters disrupt the lives of the 2/6/2025 3:43 PM
neighbors. We need law enforcement to get rid of the problem renters.
119 Reducing Short term rentals will 1 eliminate visitors to the area 2. Impact local businesses 3. 2/6/2025 2:57 PM
Increase hotel/motel developments 4. Encourage on the wealthiest to own homes in the area
further limiting visitors and reducing business needs 5. Limit work opportunities for locals with
reduced business revenues from less visitors, relying only on wealthy 2nd home owners who
rarely come to the area or the wealthy living in resort areas.
120 1 encourage an open mind to short-term vacation rentals. As long as the owners and tenants 2/6/2025 2:40 PM
abide by the laws and any applicable CC&Rs, they should be free to use their property as they
wish. We invested over$300K into our house when we bought it, all of which went into the
local economy (contractors and professional service providers)-and we pay extra to the HOA
to allow our guests to use community amenities. I understand the need for affordable housing,
but (at the same time)everyone likes when their property values increase. And we should be
limiting government restriction and regulation of private property.
121 These people come to party and we live here full time 2/6/2025 2:30 PM
122 1 believe in a cap system where someone wanting to ST rent has to buy credits for the days 2/6/2025 2:28 PM
they want...you want to rent your house for 60 days a year...buy your credits...180 days a
year...but more credits. The monies generated could offset infrastructure costs for the
community...again offset disproportionate useage by ST Rentals vs Long term and
homeowners
123 Some regulations are needed but they don't need to go overboard. Is it easier to start with 2/6/2025 2:11 PM
more and go to less or start with less and gradually go with more restrictions if needed?
124 Brings positive to community. 2/6/2025 1:02 PM
125 less Government influence the better, A property owner should have the right to do what they 2/6/2025 11:23 AM
want ;)
126 Ski area employees need an affordable place to live near to work. 2/6/2025 10:58 AM
127 1 am an owner of a home in Ronald. We used to sit our time 50/50 between Ronald and our 2/6/2025 10:47 AM
westside house. Our kids grew older and busier making it harder to come as often. Renting our
property had made is possible to maintain ownership. I am all for regulations on ST rentals but
am hopeful that there is a grandfather rule in place to allow current rentals to stay rentals. We
have a local company that manages it for us.
128 Don't turn us into King County. Leave short term rentals alone. It's good for Kittitas. Also, 1 2/6/2025 10:40 AM
hope Cle Elum goes bankrupt.
70/87
