Survey on Short-Term Rentals
129 1 think overall, some sort of solution to the massive amount of STR's in snoqualmie pass is 2/6/2025 10:40 AM
important. At the same time, I'm against increased government oversight of my own personal
property. It's a hard line to toe. I disagree with any additional taxes but do agree that there
should be some systems in place to make sure people are not buying homes as investments.
130 1 feel anyone that currently has a short term rental should be grandfathered in. 2/6/2025 10:01 AM
131 1 have no issues with STIR as a whole but the people doing them need to manage them closer. 2/6/2025 9:51 AM
On Snoqualmie Pass I feel renters are not given the"rules" of the area and the neighborhood,
especially regarding safety and travel in the winter months. Children are sledding in the streets
unsupervised and people are traveling with improper vehicles. This is the homeowners
responsibility to make renters aware.
132 Short term rentals positively impact the local economy. Local residents don't fill the homes in 2/6/2025 9:41 AM
the area and frequent the same businesses each week. STR's have people visiting the first
time who want to visit and spend money in all businesses. Homeowners of STR's already pay
taxes on the property and should not be additionally taxed.
133 Vacasa for Snoqualmie pass is a huge liability. Over 3 staff members have had injuries at 2/6/2025 9:41 AM
properties. They don't do safety inspections for properties. They leave fire hazards and curb
trash everywhere causing rodents and bear problems.
134 Thank you for looking into this. This is one of my biggest problems with living at 2/6/2025 9:38 AM
Hyak/Snoqualmie Pass. Hoping we can improve the situation with the short term rentals!
Would love to see long term rentals be prioritized over short term rentals.
135 1 am a home owner and have in the past had a STIR. If you own your home and pay taxes on 2/6/2025 9:24 AM
the property, you should be able to rent it as you see fit without interference from the
government. My experience is that the full time residents in my neighborhood are the ones that
have created noise, leave lights on all night and don't pick up after their pets and are generally
intolerable of part time owners or renters. They feel that the mountain is theirs and should not
be shared with"city folks".
136 I'm a real estate broker who lives at Snoqualmie pass with an extensive knowledge in real 2/6/2025 9:19 AM
estate investment and short-term rental. I would love to be a part of any decisions and
discussions moving forward, as I think experience tends to outweigh any biased opinions
about short-term rentals that jose who are uninformed may not know.
137 Moving here 4 1/2 years ago was the first time I had needed to rent a home in 15 years. I had 2/6/2025 9:02 AM
been a homeowner before that. It makes me sad that even though I contribute to our
community by volunteering with our local fire department and work locally we are planning to
move out of state so that we can find a nice rental and look for a home to buy. As much as we
love this community and want to continue to be close to help our aging parents, we need to
move somewhere we can be comfortable. We moved here with hopes of finding a place to live
and starting a life here. My husband is from WA and spent a lot of time in this area growing up.
His parents retired to this area over 25 years ago. After 4 years we have realized that prices
are not going to go down. We have been keeping an eye on rentals for the past 2 years and
have only seriously considered renting one. The availability of rentals in our area is grim.
Combined my husband and I make around$175K a year. We have 2 children in college that we
help and one more child that is still in high school. Thank you for doing this for our
community!! Good luck!
138 If STR's are managed properly, they bring a benefit to the community by exposing visitors 2/6/2025 8:54 AM
interested in Kittitas County a way of exploring and seeing the area that we have to offer. The
key is for the STR's to be managed by individual owners That have local resources and are in
the community or at least have representatives in the area.
139 Looking forward to getting some control over this. We also had a neighbor who submitted 2/6/2025 8:52 AM
building plans for a garage addition to the side of their house, but actually ended up building a
2 unit rental with a garage, in the front of their house, with no additional onsite parking. Where
is the accountability from the county? I approved their side garage, when notified, so we have
been pretty shocked to see what they actually built. Help!!
140 1 believe in the right to decide how you use your property. 2/6/2025 8:49 AM
141 We need less restrictions not more. Move to seattle for people trying to control your home. 2/6/2025 8:46 AM
142 STIR limit housing and drive up property values and taxes 2/6/2025 8:46 AM
71 /87
