Survey on Short-Term Rentals
and butter of communities like this.
105 1 think anyone who tries to interrupt free market or put regulation on another person is a vile 2/7/2025 10:11 AM
enemy combatant on US soil
106 There needs to be regulations to balance the residence of the county and take into account 2/7/2025 10:11 AM
property rights. This is a larger issue and needs to be looked at wholistically
107 As mentioned I work as a cleaner for STR's in the county both in Suncadia and outside. One of 2/7/2025 9:25 AM
the major problems I've seen is sprinkler rooms are sometimes used as mass storage areas
and access is limited. Management companies are lazy and don't address this fire/safety
issue when notified. Owners don't address it either. Owners and management companies are
also sometimes negligent in servicing fireplaces causing fire hazard concerns I have with the
wildfire area we live in. Sometimes I bring up concerns to the management company and they
don't even notify the owners that there could be a potential issue. I am in support of rules that
would require annual inspections especially with regard to fire code, sprinkler rooms, and
fireplace inspections.
108 1 have no idea on how we are going to solve this, other than elected officials doing their jobs 2/7/2025 8:21 AM
and enforcing rules that are in existence today. For example, lot zoning, size, enforcing the no
business can be conducted...
109 The only way I can afford to grow my wealth, when it comes to real estate, is by rental. 2/6/2025 10:11 PM
Otherwise I would be stuck in the mud struggling to pay my bills.
110 Managed well they help the local economy, but need a balance 2/6/2025 9:09 PM
111 For the safety of the community, protection of rental clients, and increased long term rental 2/6/2025 7:00 PM
opportunities, I agree with regulating these. I do not agree if the board of commissioners
conducts themselves as normal to pad their own pockets and those of their"close
constituents"!
112 1 strongly argue against county-level management, restriction, or regulation of short-term 2/6/2025 6:57 PM
rentals (STRs) is that such interference limits economic opportunity, infringes on property
rights, and reduces the overall benefits STRs bring to local communities. Here's why STRs
should remain free from county control: 1. Property Rights and Free Market Principles STIR
owners have invested in their properties and should have the right to use them as they see fit.
Restricting STRs interferes with private property rights and disrupts the free market, where
supply and demand should dictate success rather than government intervention. 2. Economic
Growth and Local Business Support STRs drive significant economic activity by attracting
visitors who spend money at local businesses, including restaurants, shops, entertainment
venues, and service providers. Overregulation could stifle tourism and hurt these businesses,
leading to lost jobs and revenue. 3. Increased Tax Revenue Without Burdening Residents
Many counties already collect occupancy taxes from STRs, which fund public services and
infrastructure. Restricting STRs could reduce this vital revenue stream, shifting the financial
burden onto residents through higher taxes or reduced services. 4. Innovation in Lodging and
Tourism STRs provide travelers with diverse and affordable accommodations that hotels often
cannot match. Limiting STRs reduces competition, leading to higher prices and fewer options
for tourists, potentially driving them to other destinations. 5. Unnecessary Bureaucracy and
Enforcement Costs Regulating STRs at the county level requires resources for enforcement,
inspections, and administrative oversight, creating unnecessary government expenses. These
funds could be better allocated to essential services rather than policing responsible
homeowners. 6. Localized Decision-Making is More Effective Rather than broad county-wide
regulations, decisions regarding STRs should be left to individual communities and
neighborhoods. A one-size-fits-all approach fails to consider the unique needs and economic
dynamics of different areas within a county. 7. Misconceptions About STIR Impact Opponents
often claim that STRs contribute to housing shortages and neighborhood disruptions, but data
frequently shows that well-run STRs coexist peacefully with communities and make up a small
percentage of total housing stock. Instead of restrictions, proper nuisance enforcement (for
noise or parking violations)should address concerns without harming responsible hosts. STRs
contribute to economic growth, property rights, and tourism without requiring heavy-handed
regulation. Counties should focus on fostering responsible hosting through light-touch policies
that encourage accountability rather than blanket restrictions that limit economic opportunity
and personal freedom.
113 Personally I would like to see them banned. The number of"visitors "we get, being a resort 2/6/2025 6:14 PM
community is already crushing. Garbage, trespassing, no respect or concern for people who
69/87
