engagement also fosters deeper community connections, raising awareness of homelessness and <br />encouraging ongoing support for the shelter's mission. <br />Roles and Expectations for Volunteers <br />Volunteers at the CWS have several key responsibilities, depending on their role: <br />Dailv Mornine Check-Out (7-10 am): Assist with the check-out process by ensuring guests leave <br />the shelter in an orderly manner, resetting the space, and helping with any morning logistics. <br />Dailv Evenine Check-ln (6-9 pm): Support evening operations by welcoming and registering guests, <br />providing them with necessary supplies, and ensuring a smooth transition into the shelter. <br />Food Prep (Mondav & Wednesdav. flexible 4-hour shifts): Help with meal preparation by cooking, <br />reheating, and organizing meals to ensure guests receive nutritious food in a timely manner. <br />Shower Supervision (Mondav & Thursdav, 6-7:30 pm): Supervise the use of shower facilities, <br />ensuring cleanliness and guest safety during designated shower times. <br />All volunteers are expected to engage with guests respectfully, follow CWS guidelines, and <br />communicate any concerns to staff. Volunteers play a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, safe <br />environment and are encouraged to model the shelter's values of dignity, respect, and <br />compassion. <br />lll. Guest Services <br />Elieibi Criteria <br />The CWS operates on a low-barrier model, allowing anyone who needs a safe place to sleep to <br />use the shelter. The shelter's focus is on serving individuals experiencing homelessness, but no <br />housing status verification is required. <br />Guests must comply with basic shelter rules to ensure a safe environment for everyone, such as <br />maintaining non-violent behavior and respecting others.
