Project Lon, Description: The Kittitas Reach is one of five alluvial Yakima Basin floodplain reaches studied by Stanford et al. (2002). This foundational study established floodplain restoration as critical for restoring Yakima Basin salmon stocks. In the Kittitas Reach, the researchers noted strong connectivity between the river and its floodplain aquifer. Recently, Kittitas County has acquired over 500 acres of land in the Lower section of the Kittitas Reach, which complements another 700 acres owned by other public entities.
