KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: December 3, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Authorize the Public <br />Works Water Resource Manager to accept funding from the <br />Washington State Department of Ecology and sign Funding <br />Agreement No. WRYBIP-2325-KiCPWD-00058. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works requested Yakima Basin Integrated Plan <br />habitat funding from the Department of Ecology for the <br />Lower Kittitas Reach floodplain restoration project and to <br />coordinate floodplain land stewardship and management <br />among public entities in the Lower Kittitas Reach. <br />The Lower Kittitas Reach Floodplain Reconnection Project <br />will enable lands recently acquired by the Flood Control <br />Zone District to be managed for floodplain management, <br />flood risk reduction, and habitat restoration purposes and is <br />included in the Flood Control Zone District Capital Facility <br />Plan and Project No. 5. <br />The total project cost is $905,000. The Ecology funding <br />will cover $415,000 and Salmon Recovery Funding Board <br />grant funding already under contract will cover the balance. <br />These expenses and funding sources were included in the <br />Flood Control Zone District 2025 budget. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Public Works <br />Water Resource Manager to sign and execute the aid <br />application. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Agreement <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas <br />Public Works Water Resource Manager <br />
