KITTITAS COUNTY <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> PUBLIC WORKS—BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> STUDY SESSION STAFF REPORT <br /> STUDY SESSION DATE: September 23,2024 <br /> TOPIC: Road Fund Levy Lift Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: No Action Required <br /> LEAD STAFF: <br /> Joshua Fredrickson <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> No Action Required. <br /> BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br /> • Road Levy Fact sheet has been produced <br /> • Documents are submitted for the proposition to be on the November 5 ballot <br /> • Frequently Asked Questions will be on the County website <br /> • Public Works outreach consultant, Consor,has developed outreach strategy and <br /> documents <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Required documentation for the road levy proposition(Proposition 1)has been submitted <br /> to the County Auditor Office. This will place Proposition I on the November 5 ballot. <br /> Consor, Public Works' outreach consultant has continued to make progress on the tasked <br /> items,producing outreach documentation(Exhibit 1). <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> Proposition 1 presents to Kittitas County voters a road levy lid lift. This proposal <br /> increases the current tax levied for roadways from $0.77 per$1,000 assessed value to <br /> $1.01 per$1,000 assessed value. This equates to $24 per$100,000 of assessed value. <br /> Public Works has contracted with Consor North America, Inc.(Consor)to provide public <br /> outreach supporting services related to the 2024 road fund levy. Consor is developing <br /> outreach material including messaging information which can be utilized. Outreach <br /> includes messaging for informational mailers about the proposed levy. Draft Frequently <br /> Asked Questions(Exhibit 2)regarding levy and Proposition 1 have been developed. <br /> Once finalized this information will be made available on the County website,at the <br /> Public Works page. <br />
