BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO.2024- � 3, <br />AUTHORIZING THE SUPPORT OF KITTITAS COUNTY'S WASHINGTON STATE <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE 2026 PERIODIC UPDATE GRANT APPLICATION <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to update its Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update by 2026 per <br />the Growth Management Act (GMA) RCW 36.70A.; and <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to plan for climate change and resiliency, which was added as <br />the 14"' goal of the Growth Management Act (GMA) RCW 36.70A.; and <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County is required to specifically update its Comprehensive Plan to include a <br />Resiliency sub -element with goals and policies to improve climate preparedness, response <br />and recovery efforts per the Growth Management Act (GMA) RCW 36.70A.; and <br />WHEREAS: Monies have been appropriate by the Legislator to the Washington State Department of <br />Commerce who has the responsibility to administer these monies to local jurisdictions, to <br />meet their comprehensive plan periodic update deadline; and <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County will apply for a Climate Grant through the Washington State Department <br />of Commerce; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, <br />Washington, in the best interest of the public, does hereby support Kittitas County's Washington State <br />Department of Commerce Climate & Resiliency grant application and scope of work to facilitate Kittitas <br />County in the periodic review and update necessary to the meet the requirements of the Growth <br />Management Act. <br />,day of July 2024, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />� �•,f dQ 2'Y,b_ <br />F x <br />r. <br />�• SEAL <br />❑ Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />VDIe puty Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUN", AS ON <br />t <br />Brett W chsmith, Chairman <br />
