Response 2.1 *irllhy would iourists lra'1el to Kittitas County to atte'rd your eveni/aclivitylfacility?
lhe Summer mainstage production is a two to three-hour event siarting at 7:00 PM
and is heid over two weekends in the summer when families are more likely to travel
- each of these factors encourages people traveling fro[1 over 50 miles to stay
locally for the nighi either at hotels or with family and friends. Although difficuii to
quantify, attendees of our summer produciion that stay overnight in hotels/motels
also purchase meals, gas, and shop in local stores while here. We are actively
working with Hotel Windrow Best Western, Red Lion and other local hotels to create
"stay and see a play" packages for ihese two weekends in July. that the hotels will
be able to advertise in advance.
Many tourists are drawn by the show being presented. These tourists are even more
likely to return next year and are more likely to make an "experience" out of the irip.
Additionally, ihe larger the casVcrew of a production, the more family anei friends
come to visit to see the production- The cast and crew of our summer productions
average between 50-75 people and is expected to draw on college student talent as
well as locals. lt is not unreasonable to assume that these personal invitations
(especially from college students who are not local), will generate a 200+ out-of-
iown tickets. These attendees may come for just dinner and the show, or stay with
friends while in town, but generate revenue at our grocery stores, gas stations, etc.
Out of state visitors are most likely to be friends and family personally invited to
attend the produciion, as well as businesslpieasure travelers in town for olher
events and looking for entertainment options.
25011 .haract-^r iimit
