2023 Docket Enabling Ordinance December 19, 2023 <br />Page 50 <br /> <br /> <br />REDEVELOPMENT - The creation of an additional 5,000 square feet of impervious or pollution <br />generating surface. <br /> <br />RIGHT-OF-WAY - Land, property, or property interest, usually in a strip, acquired for or devoted <br />to transportation purposes. <br /> <br /> <br />ROAD OR STREET - A general term denoting a public or private way for purposes of vehicular <br />travel and utilities, including the entire area within the right-of-way (includes alleyways). <br /> <br />ROAD IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT – Road Improvements paid by an assessment on lots, tracts, or <br />parcels that are specifically benefited by the improvement. <br /> <br />RURAL – Areas within the County which have not been incorporated. <br /> <br />SHALL - A mandatory condition. Where certain requirements in the design or application use the <br />word "shall", it is mandatory that these requirements be met. <br /> <br />SHOULD - Where the word "should" is used, it is considered to be advisable usage, <br />recommended but not mandatory. <br /> <br />SPECIAL DISTRICT - Any recognized district within Kittitas County that may have some level of <br />jurisdiction over some aspect of a development. A special district may include, but is not limited <br />to, Irrigation Districts, Water Districts, and Fire Districts. <br /> <br />STANDARD PLANS – Those certain Standard Rural Typical Roadway Section Plans KCC 12.04 <br />Title XI dated June 30, 2023. <br /> <br />STOPPING SIGHT DISTANCE - The distance required to safely stop a vehicle traveling at design <br />speed. It is measured from the driver's eye, 3.5 feet above the pavement to the top of an object <br />2.0 feet high on the pavement anywhere on the road as defined in AASHTO. <br /> <br />STREET OR ROAD WIDTH - The distance measured from face of curb to face of curb across a <br />street or edge of traveled way. <br /> <br />TRAVELED WAY – That part of the roadway made for vehicular traffic excluding shoulders and <br />auxiliary lanes.
