2023 Docket Enabling Ordinance December 19, 2023 <br />Page 131 <br /> <br /> <br />Where required by the approved signing and striping plan, roadway striping, raised pavement <br />markers or other traffic delineators shall be installed by the applicant in accordance with the <br />approved plans and the MUTCD and be in place prior to opening the roads for use. <br />12.04.08.140 Private Signs in the Public Right of Way. <br />It shall be the policy of the county that commercial signs shall not be permitted within the right- <br />of-way of county roads. The county will remove any private or commercial signs which are <br />found within the county right-of-way. <br /> <br />Article IX. Urban Features <br /> <br />12.04.09.030 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). <br />All pedestrian surfaces shall be constructed in accordance with the most current guidance for <br />maintaining compliance with the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA). At the time this was <br />written, useful guidance includes, but is not limited to publications by the Public Rights-of-Way <br />Access Advisory Committee, WSDOT Design Manual, WSDOT Field Guide for Accessible Public <br />Rights of Way, and WSDOT Standard Plans. <br /> <br />It shall be the responsibility of the applicant and the applicant’s engineer to ensure that all <br />pedestrian facilities are in full compliance with the most current requirements for accessibility. <br /> <br />12.04.09.040 Pedestrian Facilities. <br /> <br />In Rural Areas. <br />Pedestrian facilities shall be required in LAMIRDs where they are consistent with the built <br />environment. <br />If existing facilities are present, adjacent and nearby, projects shall construct pedestrian <br />facilities to match in accordance with these standards. <br />In LAMIRDs where new land subdivisions are proposed, facilities shall be constructed where <br />they provide a logical function such as conveyance of students to locations of potential bus <br />stops or to areas consistent with pedestrian destinations or to provide logical connectivity <br />for consistent pedestrian access. <br />In LAMIRDs that are in-fill in nature and pedestrian facilities do not exist adjacent to the <br />project and are not likely to be constructed, pedestrian facilities will not be required.
