2023 Docket Enabling Ordinance December 19, 2023 <br />Page 132 <br /> <br /> <br />Pedestrian facilities in rural areas shall be constructed to one of the following configurations: <br />Option 1 Unpaved gravel surfaces <br />Option 2 Conventional concrete <br />sidewalk (Note: Curb and <br />gutter not required with <br />adequate designed ditches <br />that provide drainage) <br />Option 3 Multi-use paths and other <br />non-motorized facility <br />options. <br />Option 4 Any urban pedestrian <br />facility option as approved <br />by the County Engineer <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />12.04.09.090 Trails and Shared Use Paths. <br />Walkways, bikeways, trails, and shared use paths shall be required as identified in the Kittitas <br />County Comprehensive Plan, Regional Transportation Plans, or other approved plans. <br />Non-motorized transportation includes travel by bicyclists, pedestrians, and equestrians. WSDOT <br />and AASHTO design guidance l will be followed for design of bicycle paths, trails and other non- <br />motorized transportation. <br />12.04.09.100 Public Transportation and School Bus Facilities. <br />The affected public transportation agency and the local school district will be notified and <br />invited to review project applications that include a known bus route. Based on coordination <br />with these agencies, the County Engineer may require the following: <br />A. Generally, bus pullouts will be specified if: <br />1. Passenger safety for boarding and debarking conditions warrant a pullout; or <br />2. Traffic flow would be greatly hindered due to in-lane stopping.
