2023 Docket Enabling Ordinance December 19, 2023 <br />Page 130 <br /> <br /> <br />keep the roadway clean and free of debris, and accommodate effective and efficient snow <br />removal. All gateway monuments and signs shall be subject to approval by the County Engineer. <br /> <br />12.04.08.130 Road Signs and Traffic Control Devices. <br />Road signs, traffic control devices, and pavement markings shall be designed and constructed <br />according to the following standards and criteria: <br />A. Unless otherwise approved by the County Engineer, the applicant shall be responsible for <br />fabrication and installation of all required warning signs and regulatory signs within <br />public or private right-of-way in unincorporated Kittitas County. <br /> <br /> <br />B. The county will assume maintenance responsibility for all county road name signs, <br />warning signs and regulatory signs within the county right-of-way after the County <br />Engineer’s approval of the sign(s) and sign installation. <br /> <br />C. The applicant and the applicant’s successors shall be responsible for installation and <br />maintenance of all signs along the applicant’s private roads, including private road name <br />signs and all warning and regulatory signs. <br /> <br /> <br />D. All required signs must be installed prior to final county approval and opening of roads <br />for use. <br /> <br /> <br />E. All warning and regulatory signs installed in public or private right-of-way shall be <br />designed, located, and installed in accordance with the MUTCD and the county code. <br /> <br />F. Any sign constructed in county right-of-way in nonconformance with these standards <br />shall be removed by the county. <br />Maintenance and replacement of warning and regulatory signs outside public right-of-way shall <br />be the responsibility of the applicant, a homeowners’ association, or if there is no homeowners’ <br />association, the property owners whose property abuts or has legal access to the public road <br />system via the private road.
