Phase 1 of the new facility campus at the airport
site consists of the Government Building and the
Courthouse building. The buildings are adjacent
but separated with a area separation joint to allow
a separate construction type at the Courthouse
because it has a higher construction classification
being an essential facility. The courthouse is typically
a higher cost per square foot for finishes, security,
and Category III essential facility. The government
departments will be in the separate building with a
shared entrance and security screening point.
The site orientation with shared entrance is based
on a civic plaza on the east side of the building. This
space provides a welcoming entrance for the County
departments, a place for meeting and reflection as
people come to the courthouse, and outdoor space
for staff.
Parking for the public, staff, County vehicles, and secure
access for the future jail and Sheriff office have been
developed on this site to ensure it can accommodate
the needs identified.
The red buildings of the jail and Sheriff office are
provided as Phase 2 construction of the campus
and will be required to be issued as a separate bond
measure in the future.
The property directly to the east of the campus has
been preserved for development by other agencies or
communities in Kittitas County such as community
support, programs, restaurants, shops, etc.
Kittitas Count Cot.rrth'ouse Re Iacemen
RE -DESIGN REPORT JUNE 14, 2022 7
