The Washington State Parks Winter Recreation
Program provides services such as snow removal, trail grooming, and sanitation during the
winter season to more than 130 Sno-parks statewide including Evergreen Sno-Park. We rely
heavily on our land manager partners to maintain and improve road and parking infrastructure so
that our plowing equipment, grooming equipment, and the parking public can enjoy winter
access.
Kittitas County benefits from the winter recreationalist that visit Evergreen Sno-park which leads
to a positive impact on the area economy. Snowmobilers, snow bikes, tracked all -terrain
vehicles, and skiers use Evergreen Sno-Park for winter recreation and it is vital to keep this
gateway in great shape and improve it for future use. Currently, Evergreen Sno-park requires
more permanent drainage, grading and expansion. Our program years ago funded a temporary
re -grading project, but this was not an ideal solution and did not alleviate the problems we are
encountering at this location today.
With the increase in population to Washington State and the public interest in winter recreation,
approving funding to improve the conditions at Evergreen Sno-park would be a win for Kittitas
County and the winter recreationalist in general. Washington State Parks Winter Recreation
Program strongly supports the Evergreen Sno-park improvement grant application.
Sincerely,
Corey Tolar, Program Manager
Winter Recreation Program
io
WINTER RECREATION PROGRAM
