Kittitas County Parks and Recreation District 1
n* P.O. Box 1064 - Roslyn, WA - 98941
info@kprd1.org
www.ukcparksandrec.org
of this site to withstand the rigors of the elements and traffic has resulted in
deep ruts, pot holes, and an eroded border. This decay has lead to numerous
instances of vehicle damage as evidenced by the annual revelation of broken
parts (snowmobile tracks, fairings, body panels, etc) after the snow melts.
Discussions with Kittitas County Snowmobile Groomers Council, Upper County
Recreation Association, and members of the Washington State Snowmobile
Association (one of the original financial backers of the Sno-Park) have sparked
our desire to commit to significant upgrades to the Sno-Park that will ensure its
long-term survivability and usefulness for all to enjoy. The plan includes
surveying, engineering, excavation, fill, and gravel, plus a robust gate and
proper signage to ensure the park lasts well into the future without decaying
and/or causing damage to vehicles and snowmobiles. Estimates for the cost of
these upgrades range from $120,000 - $220,000, depending on the results of
the engineering / surveying (to determine the depth and extent of excavation
prior to proper fill). KPRD1 presently lacks funds necessary to have this
preparatory work done, however we plan to contact Washington State Parks to
see if they have engineering expertise and/or personnel that could assist.
In order to preserve and fortify our one asset - The Evergreen Sno-Park - Kittitas
County Parks and Recreation District 1 formally requests funding for these
improvements via the ARPA program. We believe the investment in this
tourism -based infrastructure will be beneficial to the community at large plus
those who chose Kittitas County as their winter adventure destination.
Thank you for
your time and consideration,
Kent Verbeck
Chairman, KPRD1
Kent Verbeck Ira Astrachan Keegan Fengler Ali Astrachan Lucy Temple
