Creating a safe recreational boating environment. <br />i. Utilize available data and area activity identify marine law enforcement best <br />practices to achieve WSPRC and USCG recreational boating safety missions.ii. The Marine Law Enforcement Patrol Vessel Replacement Grant (MLEPVRG) <br />program will fund the purchase of a primary patrol vessel replacement up to <br />$150,000.00 of the purchase price. The replacement is based in part on the age of the <br />current primary patrol vessel, maintenance and operational costs, area of <br />responsibility as well as the specific needs of the law enforcement agency. <br />b. Restoring trust with local communities <br />i. Be a better neighbor with those closest to our recreational boating resources <br />by improving dialogue and relationships with persons utilizing those <br />resources. <br />ii. Expand the lines of communication with neighboring marine law enforcement <br />agencies and work together to promote recreational boating safety.iii. The intent of the MLEVRG program is to provide marine law enforcement <br />agencies a new and up-to-date platform from which to conduct marine patrols and <br />interact with the boating public. <br />iv. Partnerships are designed to build positive interactions and to enhance compliance <br />with recreational boating laws. Using the new patrol vessel, marine law <br />enforcement agencies are encouraged to conduct educational outreach and solicit <br />support for the program. Partnerships will facilitate open communication and the <br />exchange of information while respecting one another's values and knowledge.v. Develop and maintain creditability and open communication with partners in <br />recreational boating safety compliance. <br />vi. Provide outreach and education to facilitate working together with stakeholders to <br />bettereducate them in their knowledge of recreational boating safety.vii. Strengthen existing or develop new collaborative management <br />relationships between stakeholders. <br />viii. Provide and promote opportunities for youth awareness and engagement in <br />recreational boating safety. <br />2. Minimum Requirements for Replacement Vessel <br />^. Hull must be made of welded aluminum <br />b. Vessel must be equipped with inboard/outboard or outboard propulsion in either jet or <br />propeller drive. Inboard propulsion is prohibited <br />c. Maximum vessel length no longer than twenty-nine feet, six inches (29.5') <br />d. Minimum vessel length no less than eighteen feet (18') <br />e. Vessel must be fully equipped with police radio communicationsf. Vessel must be fully equipped to operate a laptop, tablet, or other device capable of running <br />Statewide Electronic Collision & Ticket Online Records (SECTOR) <br />g. Vessel must be fully signed as a law enforcement vessel and equipped with blue emergency <br />lights and siren <br />h.
