3.1.3 Worksheet Components Items on the worksheet are determined by user selections (Figure 4). The first compo- nent of the worksheet is the Inputs section. The Acceptable Fire Conditions section is included if that option is selected on the Module Selection window. The Run Option Notes section includes important reminders of selections that were made to develop the current worksheet. The Output Variables section can be included or omitted. The Notes section is also optional. 8—Inputs: Selected Modules The selected modules are listed at the top of the input section. In this case, both SUR- FACE and SIZE are selected. The indentation of SIZE under SURFACE in the Module Selection window (Figure 1) indicates that the two modules are linked. In this case, the head fire surface rate of spread and effective wind speed that are calculated in SURFACE are used in SIZE (Table 2). 9—Description A description of the run helps you keep track of the purpose of the run, although it is not necessary to enter something in this field. The text typed here is used as a header line on all output pages and as the default description if you save a worksheet or a run. It is also used as the description of a saved custom fuel model or moisture scenario, although you can easily change it when you save the file. Other description lines can be added using Configure > Appearance preferences > Worksheet. In this example, three additional lines were added since the Prescribed fire plan worksheet header was selected. 10—Input Variables by Category .Input variables are organized by category such as Fuel Moisture and Weather rather than by module such as SURFACE or SIZE since the same input variable may be used by more than one module. The Variables paper (Andrews 2009) includes a table of all input variables arranged by category with an indication of the modules in which they are used. 11—Guide Button The Guide button feature of BehavePlus makes it a much more powerful system. A click on the Guide button opens a window with three panes. The left pane is a picture, in- cluded with permission of the artist to add visual interest to an otherwise grey interface. However, if you prefer, the picture can be eliminated on all windows using Configure > Appearance preferences > Application, or it can be closed temporarily on the current window to enlarge the right-hand Help pane by removing the Picture check mark located at the bottom of the window. The center pane provides guidance on entering input values (Sections 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4). The right-hand pane is a context -sensitive Help window with a description of the variable (Section 15.3).
