Covid hits and WSSSM was closed over 6 months (196 days) from <br />March 1S-September 26. We opened again weekends only for 15 days (Sept. 26- <br />Nov. 15) and it was slow. Covid restrictions were in place (ordered WSSSM stylus <br />pens as giveaways for monitors). signage and PPE. Covid results in another closure <br />during ski season, Nov. '1 5. 2020-Feb.20,2021 (over 3 monihsl98 days). Since Feb. <br />20. WSSSM has operated Saturdays/Sundays, instead of Thursdays-Sundays. The <br />Covid silver lining? The sumnrer of 202 1 was our busiest yet at the museum - even <br />beating pre-pandemic levelsl <br />Covid Disappointments: ln the Fall af 202O, WSSSM was to have celebrated our sth <br />Anniversary with a live speaker and party. The Warren Miller Movie Series was <br />moved online. Fundraising was more difficult. but our suppoders were quite <br />generous. Due to Covid, WSSSM laid off our one paid employee who recruited <br />volunteers. <br />Covid lnnovations and Wins: Overall, Covid forced the museum to be more creative <br />and to reach out to different partners. These new partnerships and events will <br />expand WSSSM's audience and sustain us for years to come. <br />. Canlis Restaurant created special dining yurts decorated in Vintage NW Ski <br />Themes. They reached out to WSSSM and we became a partner and received <br />publicity from of one of Seattle's most iconic restaurants. <br />. WSSSM's new Speaker Series via ZoomlFacebook Live took advantage of Covid <br />with Deb Armstrong in Colorado. John Lundin in Sun Valley. eic. and brought <br />WSSSM programming into much larger audience. The Speaker Series will coniinue <br />in 2022. <br />. WSSSM historians John Lundin and Kirby Gilbert created "Sublime Sights" exhibit <br />on Ski Jumping at the National Nordic Museum in Seattle. This partnership allowed <br />WSSSM to expand it's reach outside Snoqualmie Pass. lt was a great experience for <br />WSSSM to partner, work, and learn from one of Seattle's most sophisticated <br />museum marketing teams. <br />. WSSSM, Dru Bru and others created the Snoqualmie Pass Scavenger Hunt in the <br />summer of 2021 because it could be done rn a "Covid-Safe" environment and was <br />great for families. The Scavenger Hunt will continue in 2022. <br />. With regard to volunteers. we have hired a new Operations and Volunteer Manager <br />who is creatively working hard to rebuild our volunteer crew. The WSSSM volunteer <br />program needed a reboot and Covid was the kick in the pants to rethink how we do <br />things. <br />?500 characte. liIril
