Response 2.2*
Application Questions. Parl 2
Describe the prior sirccess ol your eveIllaciivilyliacjljty u aiiractior] toLtrists.
Typically, WSSSM hosts in person events that attract between 150-300 attendees
each. ln pre-pandemic times, these events included Anniversary Celebrations, book
or speaker talks, or visits by Olympians. ln 2A2O and2021. we shifted to an online
WSSSM Speaker Series (Zoom, sinrulcast on Facebook Live) and other partner
events to keep the museum top of mind whtle we were closed. These partnerships
will serve WSSSM well as we transition back to in-person events in 2O22. Examples
include:
WSSSM created mini exhibits inside Canlis Restaurant's tv'/elve Yurts. WSSSM
historians created an in person exhibit called "Sublime Sights" about Ski Jumping at
the National Nordic Museur.n in Seattle from May to July 2021. We hosted several
online evenls in conjunction with that exhibit, which was widely advertised and
attended. WSSSM Board Member and Olympian Deb Armstrong gave several talks.
including one for the parents and racers of the PNSA Ski Race Teams. Another
Speaker Series Event highlighted a WSSSM exhibit on Avalanche Dogs and
Backcountry Safety. The keynote speaker was Cle Elurr's Chris Martin, hjs K9 Anna,
and partners Ski Patrol Rescue Team (SPART), King County Search and Rescue
Association (KCSARA), and Drubru.
Thanks to a mrcro grant from Kittitas County, WSSSM partnered with Drubru to
create the Snoqualmie Pass Seavenger Hunt in the summer ot 2021 . This hunt was
created using an app called "Eventzee" and had over 300 participants compete to
earn points with quizzes, photo, video. QR and GPS location challenges. The hunt
was advertised on social media, digital advertising and with posters and flyers. lt
was a great engaging activity for tourists to do up at The Pass and brought guests
into the museum to engage in challenges! Other partners for this event include
Commonwealth and The Summit at Snoqualmie-
We have advertised these events throughout own website, our email list, Facebook
and lots of social media posts with partner organizations, mailed postcards and
flyers, We have also sponsored events where are target audience might be located
including the Warren Miller ski movies and the Ski Bonkers sale put on by
Sturtevant's. Booths at these events (over multiple days) have allowed us to
advertise our events, promote tourism at the Pass and in Kittitas County.
While specific events draw larger crowds, the regular museum visrtors have been
drawn in by permanent WSDOT freeway signage advertising the museum on l-90
both west and east bound (NEXT EXIT signage).
2500 iia,a{:1er lirril
3l lmpact
