Location: Located on Snoqualmie Pass. just '1 hour from Seattle, WSSSM is the
Northern Gateway Entrance to Kittitas County and the first-stop on the Central WA
Outdoor Experience. WSSSM is located just off l-90, on busy route 906, across the
streel from the Chevron and The Summit lnn in The Pass Life development between
two busy locations: the Commonwealth restaurant and Drubru Brewery.
2. Year-round destination; The main winter attraciion on Snoqualmie Pass is skiing
and snowboarding and The Summit at Snoqualmie draws millions of visitors.
Outdoor recreation in the summer, spring and fall makes the area a year-round
tourist destination. Being a museum about outdoor recreation, makes WSSSM an
ideal destination for the audience at tlre Pass. With Covid in 2021 , visitors sought
easy to access local recreation on the weekends and WSSSM benefited.
3. Story-Telling Museunr/CulturelHistory: Because we are a newer facility opened in
2015, the museum was created as a storytelling, interactive museum with extremely
modern design esthetics. Monitors throughout enhahce the experience of each
exhibit. Kids and adults alike love to push the button to activate the enormous rope
tow that resides in the museum's rafters. Because we are a smaller museum. each
visit is really a personal tour by a museum volunteer who will cater to each visitor's
interests. WSSSM has a unique proposition with little competition in the immediate
area. lf a visitor is looking for a cultural or historical experience on Snoqualmie Pass.
WSSSM is the place.
4. Museum Events: ln addition to our regular exhibits, we know the new
Snowboarding Exhibit will be a huge draw. Featuring an original film on the "History
of Snowboarding in Washington State" the exhibit and the events around it will draw
crowds. We also have several Speaker Series events planned with board metnbers
who have written new books, John Lundin's "Ski Jumping in Washington" and Lowell
Skoog's "Written in the Snows" (about ski mouniaineering). We have other events
planned with Sturtevant's, Guy Lawrence at The Summit, and Deb Armstrong.
5. Community and Event Space: WSSSM is an ideal event space with high ceilings,
concrete flooring, technrcal ameniiies and great views. Organizations like Team
Alpental Snoqualmie and other private individuals have utilized ihe museum for their
own parties. WSSSM also welcomes local connrnunity groups to use the museutl
and our conference room with digital screens and hook ups for meetings.
2500 character linrit
