Council member Harper commented Zoom has had some publicily about <br />their lack of security and suggested we look into the progress that has been made to fix the <br />problem before using Zoom as an on-line meetingforum. <br />Public Works Director - Mike Enselhart:r Reported Public Works has been monitoring public safety issues; to that end, Public <br />Works has replaced sidewalks where there have been tripping hazards. Engelhart praised his <br />team for their good work.r Reported the Cemetery irrigation system was turned on 05/1 l/2020.r Reported Public Works has installed guardrails on Stafford Street Hill. Other areas of <br />town will also have guardrails installed as money for materials becomes available.r Reported Strider Construction is moving ahead with the First Street Stormwater Project; <br />curbs and gutters will be poured next week, as well as sidewalk repairs, prepping and setting up <br />detours so the crossings can be re-poured. The confractor crews are filling the crossing holes <br />with gravel twice daily. <br />Couneil member Beth Williqrns asked if the city has completed puuing asphalt in the alleys. <br />Engelhurt responded the City ran out of asphalt. The controctor brought in more asphalt, which <br />is being stored at a county pit site. More malerial may be placed next spring, Cauncil member <br />Hcrper commented the guardrail on Stalford loola great and ean potentially save lives. <br />Veolia Renort - Mike Enselhart for William LaRue:. Reported to Council William LaRue was unable to attend due to the death of a f'amily <br />member.. Graphs of the Water Plant Flows, Run Time, Precipitation, Wastewater Flow and Water <br />plant versus Wastewater Plant Flows for April 2020 were provided in the Council packets.r Reported the East settling basin at the Water Treatrnent Plan has been taken offline for <br />drying and cleaning; it should be dry enough to remove the solids in late August.r Reported InfaSource will be onsite in May to clean the yard, fill the divots and trench <br />with topsoil and re-seed where the gas line was run across the yard.t Reported a failure of one of the original Variable Frequency Drives on a Suncadia <br />irrigation pump at the beginning of May. The VFC is 15 years old, is obsolete and no longer <br />supported by the factory. One quote for the equipment has come back at $25,000. Mr. LaRue is <br />waiting for quotes from electrical contraclors for the installation costs. He is also researching the <br />costs of spare parts to rebuild the failed drive. Details will be brought back to council when <br />available. <br />o Reported Veolia staffcompleted the bi-annual sludge inventory of the lagoon at the <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant; sludge levels have not increased and are averaging 3 feet in depth <br />with approximately 4 feet of storage area remaining within the lagoon.. Rsported Veolia staff installed the aerators in the lagoon for mixing and to increase the <br />dissolving oxygen levels dudng warmer summer months.e Reported Veolia staff completed the annual cleaning of the inlet channel, bar screens and <br />grit chambers. There was a larger than normal level of gravel removed, mostly likely due to the <br />extreme influent flow experienced during the flooding conditions in February. <br />Police Chief - Kirk Bland:. Reported there has been an increase in calls over the past weekend due to the increase in <br />people in town; the City will probably see more people in town from now on through the summer.. Reported normal police deparhnent projects have been put on hold due to the Covid-19 <br />virus.r Reported the cut street crossings due to the Stormwater project made a great speed <br />deterrent and is sorry to see them being filled in. <br />2
