Types of Facility Use The Event Center proudly welcomes and supports a huge variety of events that range in size, purpose, and audience that include: • Social gatherings - reunions, dances, graduations, holiday parties, and more • Non-profit fundraisers • 4-H club meetings and events • Memorials and remembrances ® Educational seminars • Hobby and Recreational gatherings - like wood carvers, farriers, and fly fishers • Corporate meetings • Public and consumer trade shows • Roping club and barrel racer events • Retail shopping events • Weddings and Receptions • Community Events - like the Community Christmas Basket, Thanksgiving Dinner, and Community Connect Day • State Association conferences - like Back Country Horsemen and Search & Rescue • Agricultural competitions and shows - like Junior, High School, and College Rodeos, Cascade Cow Cutters, and more • Government agency meetings • The annual Kittitas County Fair & Ellensburg Rodeo Many events are organized by local leaders and community groups, but the Event Center also has significant use from organizers who appreciate the central location in the state and the flexible spaces we offer. The Event Center rates are competitive and, in general, well below par with other similar venues in nearby counties. The County is obligated to provide a County Fair under Washington State Law. Through an agreement - as detailed below - the County appoints an 18 -member Fair Board, who works closely with Kittitas Valley Event Center staff, to plan and operate the annual fair. The Ellensburg Rodeo, a non-profit entity, rents the Kittitas Valley Event Center under a contracted fee each year. The County Commissioners, over time, have supported the Event Center as a community facility and, through contract or verbal approval, have agreed to provide the Event Center to various groups/events for free or reduced -rate facility uses including: Kittitas County Internal Uses o facility use is free for department meetings, public hearings, and other quasi -internal trainings/meetings 61Pa e
