Staff was encouraged to get with the <br />IT Department to gather further information on the topic. <br />BOWERS FIELD UPDATE(S) <br />Mark Cook reported on several issues at Bowers Field starting with <br />the temporary closure of Runway 7-25. Public Works has followed <br />the directive of the BOCC and a scope of work was sent out to HLA <br />Engineering and Surveying out of Yakima and a site visit was <br />conducted. Staff is expecting a scope of work back this week and <br />then a special Airport Advisory Board meeting will be scheduled to <br />review the scope and have HLA present their qualifications. If the <br />Airport Advisory Board is satisfied with the scope of work then a <br />notice to proceed can be sent out to HLA. Discussion was held as <br />to the base of the runway and the possibility of having <br />geotechnical testing done. Further discussion was held with no <br />Board direction. <br />Mark Cook stated that pursuant to the t -hangar inspections last <br />month and the amount of non -aviation related items in the hangars, <br />follow up letters were sent and two responses have been had so far. <br />Staff will re -inspect all hangars again in thirty (30) days and <br />move forward. Discussion was held. No direction was given. <br />Mark Cook spoke about the Carrera Hangar and staff has been working <br />with the owner on the cleanup of the fire that had occurred there. <br />Public Works initially supplied assistance with the cleanup <br />operations and provided an area of storage of the material so it <br />could be hauled off. Mark Cook continued that staff had to keep in <br />contact with the hangar owner to maintain the area was clear of <br />foreign object debris (FOD) and the area was fenced. Building <br />permits are finally in process in Community Development Services. <br />Discussion was held. No direction was given. <br />Mark Cook commented that there was a malfunction of one of the <br />airport gates that has resulted in a claim for damages to a <br />vehicle. Staff contacted the gate contractor and parts have been <br />ordered for repairs due to apparent vandalism. Discussion was <br />held. No direction was given. <br />Mark Cook reported that the Master Plan update is almost complete. <br />The preferred alternative was sent to the Federal Aviation <br />Administration (FAA) months ago for review and at this time is has <br />still not been reviewed. The Master Plan will likely be submitted <br />in October and is close to being completed. Discussion was held. <br />No direction was given. <br />Mark Cook stated that initial conversations have been had with the <br />Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regarding lease renewal <br />rates.
