In Urban Areas. <br />Pedestrian facilities shall be required in all approved UGAs and in conjunction with roads serving <br />commercial businesses, industrial businesses and mixed-use districts. <br />Pedestrian facilities in urban areas shall be constructed to one of the following configurations: <br />Option 1 Conventional curb, gutter <br />and sidewalk <br />Option 2 Curb, gutter, planter strip <br />and separate sidewalk <br />Option 3 Multi -use paths and other <br />non -motorized facility <br />options. <br />In Rural Areas. <br />Pedestrian facilities shall be required in LAMIRDs where they are consistent with the built environment. <br />If existing facilities are present, adjacent and nearby, projects shall construct pedestrian facilities to <br />match in accordance with these standards. <br />In LAMIRDs where new land subdivisions are proposed, facilities shall be constructed where they <br />provide a logical function such as conveyance of students to locations of potential bus stops or to <br />areas consistent with pedestrian destinations or to provide logical connectivity for consistent <br />pedestrian access. <br />In LAMIRDs that are in -fill in nature and pedestrian facilities do not exist adjacent to the project and <br />are not likely to be constructed, pedestrian facilities will not be required. <br />Pedestrian facilities in rural areas shall be constructed to one of the following configurations: <br />Option 1 Unpaved gravel surfaces <br />Option 2 Conventional concrete <br />sidewalk (Note: Curb and <br />gutter not required with <br />adequate designed ditches <br />that provide drainage) <br />Option 3 Multi -use paths and other <br />non -motorized facility <br />options. <br />Title 12 Kittitas County Code ' Draft No. 5 — Working Draft for Adoption 6/12/2018 <br />72 <br />
