along with regular cleaning for event set up. On a reoccurring basis, we hire a professional cleaning
company to conduct extra deep cleaning in our kitchens given their superior resources and equipment.
In our kitchens and bathrooms we employ specialized chemicals and extraction systems to get results in
removing greasy residues from the surfaces of the kitchen equipment, contaminated residues from the
surfaces of the bathroom faucets and toilets, and dirt from the walls, floors, and other surfaces.
We train our employees to follow our kitchen and bathroom cleaning protocols and require them to
follow the pre- and post- event checklist systems for every event in our facilities.
General Maintenance/Housekeeping
Daily cleaning and maintenance of a building is essential to support its daily operations. Dirty floors,
dusty work surfaces, and overflowing trash cans contribute to a poor appearance and create a negative
impression on.tenants, employees, guests, and patrons. Clean facilities protect the health and safety of
building occupants, promote productivity, and create a positive impression.
The Kittitas Valley Event Center has a routine maintenance program that outlines the specific cleaning
tasks required in every area of the facility. While each maintenance program is specifically tailored to
the individual facility, all cleaning and housekeeping programs follow the general guidelines below:
Cleaning Guidelines for Every Job
• Plan on completely cleaning any room the day after an event. Leave all spaces clean and ready to be
shown to prospective customers. Any equipment or furnishings left or stored in a space should be
arranged neatly.
• Pull out/set aside any furniture that needs attention, cleaning or repair. Check upholstery on
padded chairs. Spot clean. Tables with peeling laminate need to be glued. Dust or wash/wipe any
carts and electronics including cords. At set up, all tables need to be wiped on top and edges.
• Tidy/stock cleaning chases, take inventory. Return any dirty rags to the shop, replace with a small
stack of clean towels.
• Clean from top to bottom. Start by dusting or vacuuming ceiling corners and edges as well as HVAC
vents and light fixtures. Bring all the dirt and dust to the lowest level.
• Clean from dry to wet. Begin by dusting surfaces and dry mopping or sweeping before using spray -
and -wipe products or wet mopping.
• Clean from dirtiest to cleanest. Tackle the worst areas first. Once the dirtiest areas are clean, the
remaining cleaning tasks are a snap!
• Use a pattern when cleaning, for example, work clockwise around the room when dusting or wiping
walls. This ensures you won't miss anything.
• When mopping, start from the furthest corner and work your way toward the door. Don't mop
yourself into a corner!
Kittitas Valley Event Center Cleaning Action Plan 2017 4 1 P a g e
