792 -CH COURTHOUSE UNION <br />Payment shall be by payroll deduction and the aggregate amount rendered to the <br />Washington State Council of County and City Employees, Post Office Box 750, Everett, <br />Washington, 98206-0750. <br />However, any employee of the Employer who, for bona fide religious tenets or teaching <br />of a church or religious body of which such employee is a member, may claim <br />exemption as provided in RCW 41.56.122. In accordance with that statute, such <br />employee shall pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues and initiation <br />fee to a non -religious charity or to another charitable organization mutually agreed <br />upon by the public employee affected and the bargaining representative to which such <br />public employee would otherwise pay the dues and initiation fee. The public employee <br />shall furnish written proof that such payment has been made. If the public employee <br />and the bargaining representative do not reach agreement on such matter, the <br />Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) shall designate the <br />charitable organization. <br />ARTICLE III—TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT <br />3.1 Regular Employee: All employees working full-time, part-time, or limited part- <br />time, other than temporary, who have successfully completed a probationary <br />period of six (6) months. <br />3.2 Full -Time Employee: An employee hired in a regular position working forty (40) <br />hours per week on a regular basis. <br />3.3 Part -Time Employee: An employee hired in a regular position but working less <br />than forty (40) hours per work week. A regular part-time employee working <br />twenty (20) or more hours per work week shall be entitled to pro -rated <br />insurance benefits, sick leave, vacation, and paid holidays. The calculation for <br />pro -ration shall be based upon the number of hours worked per week divided by <br />the number of hours in a full working week for the position. <br />3.4 Limited Part -Time Employee: An employee hired in a regular position but <br />working less that twenty (20) hours per week on a regular basis. A regular <br />limited part-time employee is entitled to retirement benefits, but not insurance <br />benefits, leave benefits, or paid holidays; they are paid on an hourly basis. <br />3.5 Probationary Employee: An employee hired to fill a regular position as defined <br />in Section 3.2, 3.3, or 3.4, who has completed less than the initial six (6) month <br />period of continuous employment. During the probationary period the <br />employee shall be on a trial basis and may be discharged for any reason without <br />recourse to the grievance or arbitration process. <br />Page 2 <br />
